About

David Moritz (Dipl.-Ing. Arch.) studied architecture at the Brandenburg Technical University Cottbus (BTU), the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura del Vallés Barcelona (ETSAV), and the University of Fine Arts Berlin (UdK).

He runs the studio DAVID MORITZ with a focus on process-oriented construction and experimentation with natural materials. His projects and workshop formats integrate topics from various disciplines, immaterial values, traditions and individual experiences into the construction process.

At Universities he teaches architecture and construction design with specific interests in sustainable construction techniques and perspectives on evolving the future of humanity. Workshops and design-build formats with international collaboration are amongst his favourite ways to work and teach.

He is co-founder of BakingFutures, an initiative to build communal  bread ovens with natural materials to reactivate the common utilisation of traditional bread baking culture in urban and rural settings.

As an active member of ConstructLab David Moritz engages in projects with socio-cultural contexts in different European countries.

In 2006 he founded the studio rocknrollarchitecture with which he designs and builds exhibitions, brand spaces, event architecture and artistic installations.

In addition to his practice David Moritz conducts design-based research at the Technical University of Berlin (TUB), specifically in the field of “rammed-earth and fire”.
