FORM FOLLOWS FIRE
The concept of this interdisciplinary format was to combine a hands-on workshop withphilosophying about the craftsmanship that is happening in the present moment of creation. There is an embodied knowledge in our system that we use when creating things, but is difficult to express. Different philosophical texts were selected to complement the workshop scenarios and give impulses for reflection.
This back and forth dynamic led to various insights during the experience of " thinking with the hands". Also the cultural and traditional background of production methods and handling was part of the particular consideration. The objects made from clay went through different stages of "thought and production". The black-burned firing process in a pit-hole was the final transformational moment.
